73 Hours of UWFi Bushido Footage Online RIGHT NOW

Look, not much excites me. Consider it a character flaw or maybe consider it a positive, as when I do really get excited it is a big deal. This is a big deal, no, scratch that, this is a huge deal. We all know that professional wrestling is fake, but what some of you might not be fully aware of is that modern day MMA evolved from professional wrestling in Japan.

You have guys like Antonio Inoki, Akira Maeda, Nobuhiko Takada and others to at least in part thank for modern MMA even existing right now. So sometimes it is cool to pay homage to the “Shoot Style wrestling” that helped to push MMA into what we know and love today. What better way than having access to over 73 hours of UWF-International footage online for free?

If you think that I’m drooling right now I am. At one point in my life I spent hundreds of dollars securing burned DVDs of all of these shows, which of course I lost over the span of many years of moving around, so having access to them like this is pretty amazing. ScientificFighting.com has the entire UWF-i Bushido run up on their website right now and if you have never seen Shoot Wrestling before and love MMA, I urge you to at least check it out. Yes, it is not “real,” but it’s hard to not appreciate the technique and passion that they put into this. Josh Barnett absolutely approves of this, hell, he even competed in a relaunched UWF-style promotion, U-Style. [source]
