Gearbox didn’t make any money on Aliens: Colonial Marines

In a bit of unsurprising news, Gearbox has revealed that they didn’t make any profits from Aliens: Colonial Marines, a game that was ripped because it was an unfinished product.  Fans of the series even started a petition to get refunds on the game, with lawsuits even being thrown in as well.  The developer revealed the grim news in a set of legal documents that were related to a  lawsuit.

“During the development process, Gearbox supplemented Sega’s development budget with its own money to help Sega finish its game; Gearbox’s contribution to A:CM totaled millions, none of which was ever repaid,” the developer has claimed.  Gearbox never received money from Sega’s A:CM purchasers, nor has Gearbox received a single royalty from any such sales by Sega.”

A lot of gamers called the game unfinished, and criticized the developer for pulling a sham while showing the game at various press events.
