Far Cry 4 isn’t true 1080p on Xbox One

The Xbox One version of Far Cry 4 does not render at true native 1080p, Digital Foundry has confirmed, instead opting for a 1440×1080 resolution.  The PS4 version does however run at full 1080p, which has become a bit of a trend over the past few months.

The lower resolution offers the Xbox One version a slight advantage in its frame rate, however, which according to Digital Foundry’s report, comes in “slightly higher [than PS4] during intense shoot-outs”.

“In terms of the multi-platform comparison, the PS4 gets the nod here for its sharper native 1080p presentation and almost solid 30fps frame-rates,” the site says. “In comparison, the image quality isn’t quite as pristine on the Xbox One, although frame-rates are slightly higher under load, but the quality of the presentation overall remains excellent. It’s a great buy on either platform.”

Far Cry 4 launched on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC last Tuesday.
