Advanced Warfare is “a brand new franchise within Call of Duty”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be the first game in the series that will be utilizing the next gen hardware first, then making it’s way to other platforms, and Sledgehammer is looking to build a brand new franchise inside of the Call of Duty brand.  It’s pretty similar to Black Ops and Modern Warfare, but since the next gen systems are out, it’s much more of a big deal than before. The PS4 will be lead platform this time, but Microsoft’s marketing deal with Activision will make it that all of the footage being shown on Xbox One.  This isn’t brand new, seeing as how Microsoft has had this deal for years now.

“It’s next-generation, and it’s 40 years in the future. There is really nothing you can borrow. This game had to be done from scratch,” Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield told Venturebeat.  “This is really a brand new franchise within Call of Duty. It’s a new intellectual property.”
