I feel like this deserves it’s own post because it is huge news. The news today is that GSP has taken a leave from the UFC and has abandoned his title, he’s abandoned his title!
Sorry, I digress.
Since GSP has abandoned his UFC Welterweight Championship there is room for a new champion in town, which has been assigned to the March 15th UFC 171 where Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will lock horns with the winner walking away as the UFC Welterweight Championship. This really is a huge bout, obviously, with the UFC Welterweight Championship being given to a new fighter. This is the first time in years that we’ll have a new UFC Welterweight Championship.
For those who are shedding tears over Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit, I’m sure the winner will get a shot.
