Shogun Rua Not Moving to 185lbs Just Yet

There was a lot of talk from Dana White of Shogun Rua being pushed to move to 185lbs if he lost his recent bout to James Te Huna, or pushing him into retirement. Okay, there was more talk about pushing Shogun Rua into retirement, which Shogun didn’t like. He didn’t mind the idea of 185lbs over retirement, though. Well, not to worry, as none of those things are going to happen to Shogun Rua.

In fact, Shogun Rua thinks that his place in the Light Heavyweight position is as important as ever. So take that, Dana White.

“I’ll stay at 205,” “Shogun” told MMAFighting.com. “There’s no way (I can drop to 185). I spoke with my team after the fight and they said I shouldn’t (move down), so I won’t. I’ll stay at 205.”

“The light-heavyweight division is the toughest division,” he continued. “I won two world titles in this division, so I’m adapted to it. My dream is to win the title again, but I’m only thinking about my next fight. I’m not thinking about the title now.”
