I’ll be frank here, Lyoto Machida vs. Phil Davis at UFC 163 was indeed a close fight, but to score the fight for anyone other than Machida seems to be an awful, awful idea. Lyoto was clearly landing the better strikes and outside of two late-round takedowns in the first two rounds, Phil Davis was having a difficult time doing just about anything. Even the FightMetric numbers show the fight clearly in favor of Lyoto Machida.
Oddly enough, Dana White, who is usually outraged over bad decisions, seems to be pretty alright with this happening, even if he disagrees.
