In a way it is kind of difficult to explain why it is so damned exciting for MMA to happen in Japan. The heyday of Japanese MMA was a while ago now, a leftover, but so many of us came up watching Japanese MMA events that it holds this near and dear place in our hearts. That’s why UFC Japan events, even if they aren’t perfect, can kindle some of those old sparks that we felt. This year’s UFC Japan event features Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson, which is awesome for Japan, as well as Yoshihiro Akiyama, KID Yamamoto, Rin Nakai and Takanori Gomi.
It’s difficult not to get too hyped for UFC Japan compared to over events because god damn, this is shaping up to be just incredible. So watch this video that shows highlights from UFC’s trip to Japan, including Roy Nelson doing Sumo and weirded out by Japanese people.
