Hector Lombard and Tyron Woodley pleading their cases for a welterweight title shot

Carlos Condit really mucked up the welterweight division with his injury, didn’t he? Now no one is quite sure who faces Johny Hendricks next. I would prefer Nick Diaz to come out of retirement again, even if he’s gone 0-2 in his last 2, fight Hendricks and then that winner fights the true number one contender – Woodley or Lombard. Rory Mac is 1-1 in his last two. Meh.

So in order to get the title shot, Tyron Woodley went the route of a 12-year-old (or a genius) and constantly texted and called Dana throughout the weekend:
“I blew [Dana White’s] phone up until he probably couldn’t take it any more because I want to be the world champ, and I think that alone, the persistence, warrants me a world title shots. Me and Johny Hendricks have some unfinished business from the big-12 days of wrestling, and I would love to get my hands on him.”
While Lombard just kind of asked nicely.

“I would like to get that please, I beat the guy that [Hendricks] was himself calling for the right to fight for the belt, because he had, like, four wins. So I believe now that Robbie is out of the picture, I can be a tough challenge for him.”
