GSP clarifies his stance on wanting to clean up the sport of MMA from PEDs

The circus surrounding GSP hasn’t died down since his semi-retirement last year. In fact, it’s gotten more strange and intense than ever. First, GSP is rumored to have plenty of personal reasons for his ‘retirement,’ then all of a sudden he says nothing is going on, Dana White goes on a furious GSP-bashing run, then GSP comes out saying everyone is on PEDs after it’s been rumored he’s been on them for years.

I’m so confused.

GSP hopped on Off the Record with the weird skeleton-man known as Michael Landsberg and had a lot to say, including clarification on his PED talk. Here’s a snippet:

“And people have to understand I don’t want to attack the UFC. I’m one of the guys that stands for the sport, stand for the UFC. I want to do that to help the brand, help the sport. I’m one of the guys that fight for the legitimacy of my sport. And the reason why I want to do this is because right now I think it’s a big problem. And when I came out publicly with this, I had so many text messages about guys that are afraid to speak. Not even fighters, reporters, they’re are afraid to lose their credentials. But they tell me it’s like ‘you’re doing the right thing, we support you’. I had a talk with Lorenzo, and I think it’s going to be a good thing. It’s going to be a lot of change, it’s going to be all good for the sport. And it’s the next step for us to reach even more people, to be more legitimate. It’s a new sport.”
