Bellator 124 was headlined by a Light Heavyweight title fight between Bellator champion Emanuel Newton and former UFC Heavyweight turned Light Heavyweight Joey Beltran.
This was a very odd pairing as Beltran had only won one of his past four fights and Newton had won five straight against Bellator’s best.
Many expected Newton to finish Beltran and finish him quickly, but surprisingly Beltran made it into the third round of this title fight. Nevertheless, Beltran would get brutally knocked out by a spinning back fist that landed flush on the button.
This definitely brings back scary memories of Newton’s spinning back fist knockout of former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion “King” Mo Lawal at Bellator 90.
