Former UFC Champion Matt Serra Hangs Up His Gloves

The big news today is that former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra has decided to finally hang up his gloves and stop fighting, barring the UFC finally getting MMA to be legal in New York and him being able to fight at Madison Square Garden. Serra apparently was in pain one night, which put him in the emergency room and saw an emergency surgery to remove one of his ribs, which has led him to this tough decision. It is understandable that Serra is looking to retire after that, which sounds like a horrific thing to go through which would definitely effect him for the rest of his life.

It is unfortunate to see Serra, one of the few men to have ever beaten Georges St. Pierre, forced to retire, but all things must come to an end. Serra had a good career and is definitely one of the few who can say that he was a UFC Champion and even defeated one of the best fighters of all time.
