Demian Maia Calls the Seagal/Silva Relationship for What It Is

Look, we all know that Steven Seagal has never taught Anderson Silva a single thing, right? There is just no way that the aging actor has ever shown one of the greatest fighters of all time a single thing that he didn’t already know, or that he passed along any knowledge to him or Lyoto Machida. Seagal was simply an opportunist, a guy who was made a fool within the martial arts community and called a fraud numerous times who could attach himself to actual great martial artists and look cool to a generation who didn’t grow up laughing at him.

I’m pretty sure that we all know that money was exchanged in this whole thing, right? It was convenient marketing that happened at a time when Seagal was best known for having sex slaves, with his television show in trouble. So, Demian Maia actually says what a lot of people have been thinking about the whole ordeal and we applaud him.

“It’s a lie. It’s marketing. Like every actor from Hollywood, when Seagal saw Anderson’s success, he glued himself to him. He was down on his career and made it up again. It worked because he appeared in the media again. He never taught Silva anything … For everyone who knows about it, it’s a joke.”
