When I think about the term “banned for life,” for some reason I think of the classic Kids in the Hall sketch of the Chicken Lady, as she squawked “scarred, scarred for life.” I’m not sure why, but it is just kind of funny when taken into the context of Rousimar Palhares, which the internet has lovingly taken to call “Paul Harris.” Maybe it’s because Paul Harris has scarred a few fighters for life — or at least attempted to — by not letting go of holds in time.
This is precisely what happened last night, as Rousimar Palhares scored an impressive 31 second leg lock submission, then refused to let it go. Dana White has apparently seen enough, though, and Paul Harris is “banned for life.”
