Usually when two fights step into the ring with each other there is a set of fans who walk away happy and another unhappy. In this case it feels like everyone is just uniformly depressed after Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn III happened after the incredibly lackluster TUF 19 Finale event. BJ Penn has had an emotional rollercoaster of a career that has included multiple title runs and then losses that should have never happened.
Tonight he simply didn’t belong in the ring with the likes of Frankie Edgar and it was difficult to watch. Hell, even Dana White left the ringside area so he didn’t have to watch the rest of the fight. BJ Penn retired after the fight and everyone just felt awful after watching Edgar pound on him like he did.
